Dr. Heidel is a licensed clinical psychologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia. ‘Psychologist’ is a title reserved for therapists with a doctoral degree. This means Dr. Heidel completed the highest degree of training available to provide therapy. Her practice is entirely virtual which means she can provide therapy to residents across Virginia who may not have access to a clinical psychologist in their area.
Dr. Heidel provides a trusting space for her clients to share their authentic selves. Feeling understood and accepted as a whole person is one of the most healing aspects of psychotherapy. Through a collaborative and trusting relationship, Dr. Heidel provides holistic care and treatment which is tailored to each individuals’ needs and goals. Dr. Heidel has a hands-on approach to each therapy client; often providing adjunct resources, referrals, and collaborating with your entire healthcare team.
She has experience treating clients who have a variety of presenting concerns and diagnoses including, but not limited to: anxiety, OCD, trauma, depression, bipolar, AD/HD, life transitions, and identity and relationship challenges. Her primary goal is to understand you and guide you towards your vision of a full and meaningful life!
Training and Education
Dr. Heidel received her doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology and Masters of Science in Clinical and Counseling Psychology from Radford University. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Clemson University. She has conducted research, presented at state and national conferences, and volunteered around her passion for social justice and equity. Understanding the various cultural identities of her clients allows her the opportunity to provide more holistic and attuned treatment. She has experience working with folks from a variety of cultural backgrounds, ages, and presenting concerns. She has provided psychotherapy in a variety of settings including university counseling centers, private practice, psychiatric hospitals, and community mental health clinics. She is a member of the National Register of Health Service Psychologists and the Virginia Academy of Clinical Psychologists.
